The Trends of Wireless World
For the near 3-decade old wireless industry since the eras of pagers and analog/1G cellular phones, the wireless
family-tree’s proliferation nowadays has been more and more dynamic and aggressive. The big wireless family has
grown into some major branches of wireless WAN / LAN / PAN / others. And interestingly the boundaries of markets
and applications among these branches are slowly fading out in the newer frontiers. This is especially obvious under
the growing tides of other technologies such as Internet, multimedia, VoIP, etc.
The 2007 UTHF this year has the theme on The Trends of Wireless World, which aims to provide the forward-looking,
diversified viewpoints on the wireless world. Unlike before with the focuses on microscopic or deep-down, individual
technologies, this year the focuses are on the macroscopic, zoom-out pictures of the future wireless trends, especially
at the levels of wireless applications, markets, integrations, etc.
